The fairly new setup which has thus far built a handful of electric hypercars is now all set to take over Bugatti in a joint venture with Porsche.

Croatia's Rimac Automobili, a technology powerhouse manufacturing electric hypercars made headlines recently for being the fastest electric car. The powerful engine takes the car from 0-100 kmph in just 1.85 seconds. In a constant battle for technological supremacy between heritage performance carmakers like Porsche, Audi, etc and young upstarts like Rimac, the Nevera marks a significant win for the latter. The fairly new setup which has thus far built a handful of electric hypercars is now all set to take over Bugatti in a joint venture with Porsche. Porsche is said to have a 45% stake while the majority chunk of 55% will be of Rimac.

Rimac is all set to go public in a big way in 2022 and is said to be aiming for a valuation of 5 billion euros.

The French icon - Bugatti’s future at the Volkswagen Group has been uncertain for some time now. Last fall it was reported that Rimac would take over Bugatti, as VW wants to get rid of the iconic yet small brand to help fund its big jump into electrification. Under Porsche and Rimac's control, VW will still have a hand in Bugatti.
