India's youngest, first tribal president Droupadi Murmu to take oath today

President-elect Droupadi Murmu on Monday will be sworn in to the top constitutional post at the Central Hall of the Parliament in New Delhi.


President-elect Droupadi Murmu will take oath as the 15th President of India on Monday. The ceremony of assumption of office will take place in the Central Hall of Parliament.

Droupadi Murmu will take the oath of office in the presence of the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana.

Droupadi Murmu's oath-taking: Time, Venue Droupadi Murmu will leave her temporary residence at Uma Shankar Dixit Lane for Rajghat at 08.15 am. She is scheduled to reach Rajghat at around 08.30 am. Droupadi Murmu will then reach Rashtrapati Bhawana at around 09:22 am.

Droupadi Murmu will be escorted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice-President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha M Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to the Central Hall. Once Droupadi Murmu reaches there, the National Anthem will be played in the Central Hall.

The swearing-in ceremony will start at 10.15 am. She will be administered an oath by the Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana. After taking the oath, she will sign the Oath Register.

At 10:23 am, the 15th President of India will deliver her first address in the Central Hall.

Meanwhile, if it rains on July 25, the Ceremonial function planned in the Forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan will not be conducted. Whereas, if it does rain, then it will be conducted in the Forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan at 09:42 am.Scripting history:

On July 21, the 64-year-old scripted history to become the first tribal leader to be elected to the highest constitutional post of the country.

Murmu will be the first President to be born after independence and also the youngest to occupy the top post. She is the second woman to become India’s First Citizen.
