PM Modi has urged other countries to ease international travel and emphasised on the need for mutual recognition of vaccine certificates for the same. He also underlined the rampant effect of COVID-19 on the economy, especially the travel sector, and how it should be addressed now.

Mr Modi addressed the Global COVID Summit and expressed that “We also need to focus on addressing the pandemic’s economic effects. To that end, international travel should be made easier through mutual recognition of vaccination certificates." His comments are all the more important in the current scenario, right when the UK has raised concerns about the authenticity of vaccine certificates issued via CoWin. The PM also expressed how India made CoWin free for other nations as an opensource software.

Last month, Mr Modi also expressed how spiritual tourism can give people hope in times such as the current pandemic, as well as boost the flailing industry. He also mentioned different spiritual circuits in India, notably the Ramayana and Buddhist circuits.
